Fleetwood delivers new community boardwalk at Woodlea
With Victoria slowly beginning to re-open as lockdown restrictions ease, Fleetwood has given the residents of Woodlea – 40km north-west of the Melbourne CBD – even more reasons to enjoy the outdoors this Spring. The recently-completed project saw us deliver a series of retaining walls and a new hardwood timber boardwalk in collaboration with Woodlea’s landscaping contractor, ULS Landscapes. Despite working at the height of the pandemic, Fleetwood was able to detail, fabricate and install all structures on brief and on schedule for stakeholders, Victoria Investments & Properties, Mirvac and MDG Landscape Architects.

An important new Access link for the Woodlea community, the high-spec boardwalk was designed by Melbourne-based MDG Landscape Architects, and opens up new corridors of green space for residents to explore and enjoy. The stylish design features Australian hardwood timber balustrading with bevelled edges and inset stainless steel handrails. The structure was hand-completed with locally-sourced hardwood timber decking and painted supports.
Woodlea: 20 years and still growing!
Strategically located near Rockbank on the Melbourne-Ballarat Rail Line, development of Woodlea first began in 2000, and the popular estate continues to evolve two decades later. One of the standout reasons is its natural setting and outdoor lifestyle. Residents are surrounded by native woodlands and wetlands, parklands, adventure playgrounds and pocket parks. In fact, with 30% of the entire estate dedicated to open space, every home is within a two-minute walk of a park. Woodlea is also certified as an EnviroDevelopment by the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA).
