The adventure begins!

Fun times for locals at the official opening of Oatley Park’s new adventure play space

What an excellent celebration we just had with the Oatley community in Sydney’s south!  Saturday, September 14 was a special day – an exciting launch event to mark the official opening of a new adventure playground at Oatley Park. Complete with a giant slide, play tower, and flying fox – we designed the play space inclusively with disability access structures so everyone can enjoy the adventure!

What made the official opening even more special was the partnership and teamwork that went into this project on two fronts. Firstly, we collaborated closely with our client, Georges River Council, at each key step in the process as we took on the task of designing, building, and installing the playground. Secondly, we consulted with the Oatley community to help inform the final design. This was a fantastic process for getting feedback on creative options and ideas, helping us fine-tune and deliver a design that’s truly relevant for locals: a fun and inclusive outdoor space that everyone can love for years to come!

Check out the playground video reel below:

“It was amazing to see Oatley Park come alive on opening day. As experts in outdoor playspaces, Fleetwood was tasked with delivering an adventure themed playground for all ages and abilities in line with the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play guidelines. The big smiles, enthusiasm from local families, and feedback on the day tells me we nailed the brief!”
Alby Kuswara, Project Manager at Fleetwood

More than 350 visitors, along with Georges River mayor Kevin Green and Oatley MP Mark Coure, attended the official opening, getting active and trying out all the equipment.

The final design theme combines adventure with natural timbers and materials to remain in harmony with the beautiful, green bushland setting of Oatley Park. Here at Fleetwood, we’re excited by an outcome that gives so much back to the local community. Oatley adventure playground is a perfect example of what’s possible through purpose-fit inclusive design, client collaboration, and community consultation.

“I think the opening was a huge hit on the weekend! Thanks for all the hard work you and your guys put in, it really was a great result for all involved.”
